2D Animation Outsourcing for Studios & Agencies

AUTHOR: Rafał CATEGORY: Animated Content

2D animation outsourcing means hiring an external studio to produce part or all of an animation project for your studio, agency or production house. It is a practical solution when your team is at full capacity, deadlines are tight or a project requires skills you don't have in-house.

Animwood is a European 2D animation studio specialising in high-quality, premium animation. With a core in-house team of 10 animators, illustrators and producers, we work as a production partner for studios, agencies and production houses worldwide. We can also operate as a white-label animation partner under your brand.

Why studios and agencies outsource 2D animation

Most teams outsource animation for three main reasons: capacity, speed and expertise. An animation production partner provides additional capacity when your pipeline is full, helps you meet tight deadlines and brings specialised skills such as character rigging, series production or UI animation without the need to hire additional permanent staff.

The key is finding a studio that works as an extension of your team rather than another vendor you need to manage.

Why choose Animwood

We focus on premium-quality animation, supported by strong creative direction and careful quality control at every stage of production. Our team combines experienced specialists with emerging creative talent, bringing together production reliability and fresh ideas.

Our studio's leadership has received recognition for design and filmmaking, while Animwood has earned awards and distinctions including the Clutch Global Award in 2025, The Manifest Global Award and 50 Behance recognitions.

We also work across industries such as healthcare, technology and education, quickly adapting to new subjects and production requirements. For international partners, our guide to animation production and co-production in Poland explains how we approach animation production from Europe.

Our portfolio includes DODA, a documentary series for Amazon Prime, The God's Story, which has gathered over 1 million organic YouTube views, and commercial animation projects that received two honourable mentions in 2025–2026.

Who we work with

We have worked with global brands and platforms, including Apple, Amazon and Shell, as well as agencies, production houses and other film and animation studios. More than 40% of our clients return for new projects, and their testimonials on Clutch provide further insight into our approach and working relationships.

Our core expertise lies in 2D animation production, particularly longer-form content ranging from 5 to 100 minutes. This includes animated educational series, cartoons and other educational formats.

We work with clients across the US and Canada, adjusting our working hours and meeting schedules to accommodate different time zones, including late CET hours.

We have also delivered more than 35 animated videos as part of ongoing content series for clients in Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East. Our familiarity with the cultural and religious backgrounds of these markets helps us navigate production requirements and approval processes more efficiently

What we can produce for you

Our team produces animated series and films, recurring video content, explainers, brand mascots and animated content for apps. Having delivered more than 100 episodes of animated series and cartoons, we are experienced in managing large productions with multiple episodes, formats and deliverables.

We can support different stages of production or manage the entire process, depending on your needs. You can learn more in our complete guide to animated series production and explore our work on The God's Story and My America, developed for Good Morning America.

For software companies and app developers, we create UI animations, brand mascots and animated educational content. In 2024, we delivered more than 100 Lottie animations for brand mascots, UI designs and animated courses.

Our sub-brand Appndone specialises in UI and UX design, allowing you to source both your app design and animated content from one partner. Explore our article on UI animation for apps, the Imprint project and our guide to animated mascots and brand heroes.

Techniques and tools

We work with both cut-out and traditional hand-drawn animation. Cut-out animation is generally a more budget-friendly option, while traditional animation offers greater freedom for expressive, frame-by-frame movement. Both techniques can also be combined within a single project.

Our guide to cut-out and cel animation explains the differences and helps you choose the right approach.

Our team works with After Effects, Adobe Animate, Moho, Toon Boom, TVPaint, Blender and Cinema 4D, allowing us to adapt to different production pipelines and technical requirements.

We have particular expertise in Moho and created a rigging and animation course in Moho for Motion Design School. You can learn more about our Moho animation production for series and feature films and read our comparison of Moho and Toon Boom.

Team, process and delivery

Every project has a dedicated Project Manager. Larger productions also benefit from the involvement of an Art Director or Lead Director, who oversees the creative direction and storytelling, bringing their own experience and perspective to the project.

You always know who is working on your production and have one main point of contact for timelines, budgets and deliverables.

Our production process has been refined through more than eight years of continuous animation production. It covers every stage, from scripting and storyboarding to animation, sound and final rendering. This allows you to manage an entire video or a complete series of deliverables through one production partner.

You can explore the different stages in our guide to the animation production process.

If you have a campaign or event coming up, our fast-track production process helps us deliver quality animation within tight deadlines. When a project requires additional capacity, we can also scale up through our network of trusted freelancers in Poland. This includes specialists ranging from copywriters to 3D animators, whom we manage to ensure consistency in visual style, quality and software requirements.

Read more about production schedules in our guide on how long it takes to make an animated video.

White-label animation for your clients

We can also work under your brand. For an additional fee, agencies, studios and production houses can use Animwood as a white-label animation partner.

We follow your creative direction and production requirements, delivering premium animation that you can present to your clients as part of your own services. Your client relationship stays with you, while we handle the animation production behind the scenes.

Once the project is completed, we transfer the agreed rights and copyrights to you.

How onboarding works

Our onboarding process starts with an introductory call to discuss your project, requirements and expectations.

We then set up communication through your preferred channels, whether that's Gmail, Slack, Discord or another platform. The first few days are important for establishing an efficient workflow, so we agree on communication responsibilities, feedback procedures and update schedules early on.

Next, we prepare the project budget, define the scope of work and agree on production timelines and deliverables. Before production starts, we sign an NDA and the appropriate contract or Statement of Work (SOW), depending on your company's requirements.

We then arrange the initial payment and confirm the payment schedule before moving into production.

Throughout the project, we can participate in regular status meetings and video calls or handle communication entirely through written updates. We adapt to the way your team prefers to work.

Once production is completed, we transfer the agreed rights and copyrights to the client.

How pricing works

Every animation project is estimated individually. After reviewing your brief and production requirements, we calculate the budget based on our hourly or daily rates.

We then agree on a fixed project price, so you know the total cost before production begins. If the scope expands or significant changes are introduced during production, we estimate and price the additional work separately.
