Animwood at the III New Wave of Polish Animation Conference 2026

AUTHOR: Rafał CATEGORY: Industry & Recognition

Animwood was proud to attend the III New Wave of Polish Animation conference, held on 22–23 October 2026 in Bielsko-Biała. Organised by the Polish Animation Producers Association (SPPA), together with Studio Filmów Rysunkowych - the event brought together animation producers and industry professionals to discuss the current state and future of Polish animation.

The conference focused on several important topics, including regional funding opportunities for animated film production, the growing crossover between the animation and video game industries, and the development of original intellectual properties (IP).

We were also invited to take part in a panel discussion exploring the recent successes of Polish animation on the market, including the growing presence of Polish studios in original film and series production.

The event provided a great opportunity to exchange experiences, discuss industry developments and build new connections within the Polish and European animation communities.

From animation services to original productions

As a proud member of SPPA, Animwood was particularly interested in discussions about the growing role of Polish studios in original film and series production.

While our roots are in animation services for international clients, we are also developing our own productions, including Sportsville, a 2D animated series, All the Popes of the World, an auteur animated comedy, and Citizen Olisadebe, an animated biography. All three projects are currently in development with financial support from the Polish Film Institute (PISF).

For us, this transition represents an exciting opportunity to combine our production experience with original storytelling and IP development.

A big thank you to SPPA for the invitation and to Studio Filmów Rysunkowych for co-organising the event.

The event was funded by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage through the Creative Industries Development programme of the Instytut Przemysłów Kreatywnych: Rozwój Sektorów Kreatywnych.
