Non-Profit Animation: Animwood Studio’s Award-Winning Work for NGOs

AUTHOR: Rafał CATEGORY: Non-profit animations

In the motion design world, there have always been a few “badges of honor” for commercial work. One of the most iconic used to be Vimeo Staff Picks, which, for various reasons, isn’t quite the same benchmark anymore since the vimeo’s business changes.

Now, STASH MEDIA stands as one of the leading places showcasing the very best in animation and motion design worldwide.

In 2025, we were honoured to receive recognition for our work for Acumen, a leading US non-profit organization working to tackle global poverty, and our Journey of a Dollar film.

As Stephen wrote:

“Good work for good causes is always a joy to post. Such is the case with this film from Animwood Studio in Kraków, Poland, showcasing the effects of a donation to Acumen, the US nonprofit targeting global poverty.”

This recognition also gives us a great opportunity to showcase some of our other non-profit work - from traditionally animated and painterly films to vector-based explainer videos, character animation, and more.

We created four vector non-profit animations for the California Native Plant Society to help explain how the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) works and what can be done to protect California’s natural resources, animals and regional flora. Environmental impact, covered with beatiful and vibrant, colorful style.

We were proud to support the Anti-Bullying Alliance by creating a non-profit animation for their campaign against bullying.

The film highlights the impact of bullying and shows how the organization supports those affected. It was an opportunity to explore how animation can communicate sensitive and complex topics clearly and empathetically, while reinforcing the mission of organizations working to create positive change.

The non-profit organization Acumen approached us to create a series of animated films for their Food Talks campaign during NYC Climate Week.

We created six animated videos featuring everyday foods as characters - each representing a food that could be at risk of disappearing if we fail to take action on climate change.

Each character was paired with a bold and memorable tagline, turning a complex environmental issue into an accessible and engaging message.

Cocoa

"Without me, try eating your feelings away with raisins."

Coffee

"Try starting your morning
without me."

Maize

"Movie night? Not without me."

Crossroads Kids' Club is more than just a channel - it's the Youtube channel created to provide children with a safe space for delving into the teachings of the gospel. Through series of animations named God's Story they teach children fundamental values that form the bedrock of faith.

As we embarked on the next season, we set to exceed expectations and elevate the client's vision with renewed creativity.

Summary

Working with non-profit organizations often means communicating important ideas to audiences with very different backgrounds, cultures, and levels of subject-matter knowledge.

That makes clarity especially important.

Through animation and film, we help organizations:

  • explain complex subjects in accessible ways
  • communicate sensitive topics with empathy
  • create memorable campaign content
  • translate abstract ideas into visual stories
  • engage audiences on social media and digital platforms
  • build consistent visual identities across campaigns
  • create content that can work across international audiences and markets

Our experience ranges from individual campaign films to multi-video projects and serialized content.

Whether the project calls for a short social animation, an educational explainer, a character-driven campaign, or a more cinematic animated film, we approach each production by first understanding the message, audience, and desired impact.

Animation as a Tool for Positive Change

We are proud that a significant part of our work has been created for organizations working to make a positive difference.

For us, producing animation for non-profits is not simply about applying a particular visual style to an existing message. It is about finding the most effective way to communicate that message - and making sure the audience understands why it matters.

From global poverty and climate change to environmental protection and social issues, animation gives organizations a way to make important stories more visible, accessible, and memorable.

And whether you are a global non-profit, foundation, NGO, advocacy organization, or purpose-driven team, we can help turn your ideas into films and animated content designed to reach and engage audiences around the world.
