🏆 2nd Place in the Animation category at the CRAFTY Awards for our animated brand film for Redbreast Whiskey.
Created by Animwood in collaboration with The Mixx and Analog/Digital, the project combines 2D animation, illustration, archival footage and collage techniques to bring the story and heritage of Redbreast Irish Whiskey to life.
2D animation, mixed media and collage
The film uses the client’s archival materials - including historical photographs, newspaper clippings and footage - as the foundation for a dynamic mixed-media animation - like some of our other projects such as NAQUA.
Rather than simply presenting the archive, we transformed these materials through 2D animation, illustration, collage and motion design, creating a visual language that connects Redbreast’s history with a contemporary animated brand film.
The collage approach allowed us to combine photography, graphic elements and hand-crafted illustrations into layered compositions, while animation and post-production brought the individual elements together in motion.
One of the key sequences presents the Redbreast Whiskey production process through a maximalist animated collage. Abstract compositions, graphic elements, smoke and dust effects help turn the process into a dynamic visual story.
The result is an animated brand video that uses mixed-media techniques to tell a story rooted in history, heritage and craftsmanship.
CRAFTY Awards
The Redbreast Whiskey project received 2nd Place in the Animation category at the CRAFTY Awards, recognising the creative and production work behind the film.
For Animwood, the project is an example of how 2D animation and mixed-media production can turn archival content into an engaging brand film - combining illustration, collage, motion and storytelling in one cohesive visual experience.
