We are happy to share that our HerStory animated documentary series received an Honourable Mention at the Polish Graphic Design Awards.
Created for ABC News, HerStory tells the stories of six women who made a significant impact on history. The six-episode series combines character animation, mixed-media design, illustration and expressive typography.
Animation for documentary storytelling
The series combines different animation techniques to give each story its own visual identity. Character animation was created using MOHO, while the Dorothy Irene Height episode also combines photography, newspaper clippings, hand-drawn elements and 3D animation.
HerStory is part of Animwood’s wider work in animated documentaries, alongside projects such as DODA, where animation was integrated with live-action documentary footage.
