Poland has one of the strongest animation communities in Central and Eastern Europe, with studios working across commercials, branded content, television series, short films and feature animation.

The country is also home to producers with experience in international co-productions, festival films and projects for global brands.

If you are looking for an animation production company in Poland, these five studios are a good place to start. The list is not a formal ranking, but a selection of established Polish producers with different strengths, production backgrounds and creative approaches.

 

1. Animwood

Based in Kraków, Animwood is an animation studio focused on both commercial and creative productions. The studio works across explainer videos, animated commercials, brand films, animated documentaries, character animation and original animated content.

Animwood combines 2D, 3D, cel animation, mixed media and other techniques depending on the needs of a project. Its portfolio includes commercial work and own IPs, including cartoon series, short and feature animated films.

The studio is particularly focused on animation where visual storytelling needs to work together with a clear communication goal, as well as honing the scripwriting process. Its work combines character design with 2D, 3D and traditional animation.

2. GS Animation / Grupa Smacznego

 

GS Animation, also known as Grupa Smacznego, was founded in Gdańsk in 2004 by Robert Jaszczurowski, Łukasz Kacprowicz and Marcin Wasilewski.

The studio specialises in 2D animation and has experience across animated series, short films, feature projects, commercials and music videos. Its portfolio includes productions such as Mami Fatale, Basia and Harry and Toto, as well as a number of award-winning short films.

GS Animation has also worked internationally and was nominated for Cartoon Forum's European Producer of the Year award in 2016. Its work covers the full production process, from project development and character design to storyboards, animatics, animation and post-production.

3. Animoon

Animoon is a Warsaw-based animation production company specialising in animated series, short films and feature-length animation.

The company develops animated projects and builds them as individual brands, working with creative and executive producers specialising in different animation techniques. Its portfolio includes projects for children, families, teenagers and adult audiences.

Animoon's production credits include Even Mice Belong in Heaven, Moomins and the Winter Wonderland, Hug Me and a range of original animated projects. The company's films have received more than 200 awards and numerous festival selections, while its producers have been involved in international co-productions across Europe.

Animoon is particularly interesting for producers looking for a partner on a longer-form animated project rather than a single commercial video.

 

4. Letko

 

Letko is a Warsaw-based 2D animation studio founded in 2015. The company focuses on the development and production of animated films and series, including original projects and international co-productions.

Its work combines hand-drawn animation, cut-out techniques and 2D animation with 3D elements. The studio has produced and co-produced projects for different audiences, from preschool series such as Odo to feature animation and festival-oriented short films.

One of its best-known projects is Kill It and Leave This Town by Mariusz Wilczyński, which won the Jury Distinction at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in 2020. Letko was part of the film's production team and has continued to work on both original and international animation projects.

Letko is a good example of the newer generation of Polish animation studios combining artistic ambition with professional production and international collaboration.

5. Anima-Pol

Anima-Pol is one of the more established names in Polish animation production. The Łódź-based studio was founded in 1989 and has worked across several animation techniques, including traditional animation, puppet animation and 3D computer animation.

Its production history includes Pamiętniki Florki, Kaktus i Mały, Tajemnica kwiatu paproci and other animated projects. The studio has also collaborated with international producers and worked with a number of recognised Polish animation directors and artists.

Pamiętniki Florki is perhaps one of its best-known contemporary productions. The children's series follows a young shrew discovering the world from a child's perspective and has been recognised at Polish children's film festivals.

Anima-Pol represents an important part of Poland's long animation tradition, particularly in Łódź, one of the country's key centres for film and animation.

Why Poland is interesting for animation production

The Polish animation industry combines a long artistic tradition with a growing international production network.

Studios work in very different areas. Some focus on commercial animation and branded content, while others specialise in feature films, children's series, festival shorts or international co-productions.
